# 71 报喜鸟的帖子 About "dither Algorithm --- Adaptive Hybrid"
Hi, Dear 报喜鸟,
In "Gutenprint driver version 4.2", You are almost right.
But "dither Algorithm --- EvenTone" is now better than Adaptive Hybrid
in version 5.2 for print out photographs (high quality photos) .
EvenTone, This relatively new algorithm yields excellent smoothness in all tones (light,
midtone, and shadow), the shortcoming is slower than most of the other algorithms.
It is somewhat prone to artifacts, including “tearing”, at sharp boundaries. This algorithm
is well-suited for printing photographs, but is not as suitable for printing solid-tone
graphics.
How about Adaptive Hybrid, This algorithm produces slightly smoother output than
Ordered dithering, at some cost in performance. It uses a fixed pattern in highlights to
avoid artifacts, and error diffusion at higher densities to reduce noise. It is an excellent
choice for printing business graphics due to its lack of artifacts and smooth texture in
darker tones.
By the way, In my initial experience, print out photos on Gutenprint driver, I got
satisfied results in both color tuning by gutenprint or color management by ICC
profile in Photoshop-gutenprint driver system.
Here is for reference only, due to my poor knowledge about basis of GutenPrint driver.
Any advice or comments are welcome. |
