DURHAM 鈥?New charges have been laid against a man arrested earlier this year on allegations of historical sexual assaults against a child.David Belak, 50, was initially arrested Jan. 29 on allegations that he had sexually assaulted a young person on multiple occasions between 1993 and 2000. It was alleged that the suspect, who claimed to be a  foster dad  for homeless youths, befriended the child and committed the assaults at his residences in Pickering and Ajax during that time, police said.The suspect had no official affiliation with any foster parent services, police said. Only those directly involved in the ceremony will be present. On Nov. 11, I ask all Burlington residents to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made by our veterans, those living and those no longer with us, said Mayor Marianne Meed-Ward. This years event will once again be virtual, at the request of the Royal Canadian Legion and our local veterans. We look forward to the time when we can gather together in person again.
